Our Story: Ann & Bob

A change of career and a passion for fresh, organic fruit & veg.

Where it all Began

In 2011 both of us changed career. Ann sold her popular Newcastle delicatessen and Bob resigned from being a Management Consultant. We then relocated to the beautiful Northumberland countryside, four miles South of Hexham.

The house we moved to had four fields amounting to 6.5 acres/2.5 hectares. The land had, for many decades, been used as pasture land for Sheep and Cows – our vision was to change that use to vegetable growing and create a Market Garden.

The next step was to start the process to gain Organic Status through the Soil Association – it was always our aim to be organic - who would want to eat fruit and vegetables that have been sprayed with chemicals and pesticides? We gained Organic Status in 2013 and have been certified ever since.

On this journey we met Alex and Ally of Restaurant Hjem and began providing their kitchen with Organic Produce. 2025 sees us expanding on this journey further and embarking on a new project, together with Alex and Ally……Restaurant Freyja.

Our team consists of Ann and Bob plus Lucy, Graham and Hugh.

Each week Ann writes a weekly Journal, this details what we have been doing, what we have been growing, what challenges we have had…..and much more. If you want to follow our journey please sign up to receive Ann’s weekly journal.

Our Fields, Our Produce, Our Promise.

We grow our products with taste in mind. We harvest our produce as close to our delivery as possible. We clean our produce, but it may need washing again prior to preparation. We may leave leaves on for you to use. We do like to think our produce looks good enough to eat. We deliver in cardboard boxes which we would encourage our customers to return to us so we can re-use them. We use biodegradable packaging for all our vegetables, herbs, and fruits. All deliveries are made in our electric van.

More about us

Our Values

We're guided by a deep respect for the land, the seasons, and the people we grow for. Every decision, from seed to harvest, is rooted in quality, care, and purpose. We grow with intention, always mindful of our place in the landscape and community.

Sustainability

We grow organically and always by hand. With a focus on regenerative practices, we support biodiversity, improve soil health, and avoid waste wherever possible. Produce is delivered using reusable packaging and electric vehicles - ensuring our impact stays low, and our standards high.

Our Produce

Everything we grow is seasonal, organic, and harvested by hand at its peak. From heritage vegetables to fresh herbs and edible flowers, our produce reflects the rhythm of the land. Grown in lovely Northumberland, it’s delivered weekly in veg boxes — fresh, flavourful, and full of character.
